Living Out Loud
Hello Sanctuary nyc!!!
So this month we are looking at the idea of living OUT LOUD!! The quote from which we take this month’s theme is by poet, writer, social activist, Emile Zola. the full quote is “when you ask me what I came to do in this world, I will answer you as an artist, I came to live out loud1”
It is interesting to note that he makes the distinction between the artist and the other parts of him. I think our inner artist simply insists to live out loud. And so Zola is saying that although he could answer from any number of perspectives, he sees that the one which is most courageous and authentic to who he really is is that of the artist.
The deepest part of our being is the realm in which art/spirit/transformation/timelessness reside. Sunday after our service we will be meeting for a workshop on Inter-spirituality…or the Wisdom Path. Please bring some snacks to share, and yourselves of course!! And we will be celebrating too. Sanctuary nyc is six months old, and we have really created an art form-as-community which is kind of like nothing else I have ever experienced. I think I dreamed about it though…about a truly creative place where seekers cross disciplines while accompanying one another on the deeper journey to the source…through art and music, dance and ideas and collaboration and drumming, education and celebration and service.
We had a sort of interesting thing happen last week, in that Rev. Karen Osit crafted a simply beautiful appeal letter, it was sent to everyone but had no way for you to make a contribution on the appeal letter! Whoops! But I hope you read the letter! I thought it was so GREAT!
We have a very generous offer from an anonymous donor to match not only the amount we bring in from that appeal, but since there was a bit of a snafu with that, to also match this Sunday’s offering, AND last Sunday’s offering.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 in the next two weeks.
Are you up for the challenge?
So you get my drift here, yes? Any contribution you make to Sanctuary nyc this week will be like giving twice that much!
You can find the Donate bottom right on this newsletter, on our website and of course we would LOVE to see you Sunday when you can also contribute.
We have so much to be grateful for.
Giving and receiving are the same…thank you for all of the gifts you share each day.
I am working on saying more in less space…Signing off…
My inner artist is at work…Can’t wait to see what comes next!
See you Sunday…the Topic is “The Yoga of Love”
